Chief Strategy Officer
Thomas Sholes is the Chief Strategy Officer and a member of the Executive Committee for BNY Mellon | Pershing. He is the Head of Global Strategy and Product Management team, leads Pershing’s Technology Priorities Committee and is Chairman of Pershing affiliate Lockwood Advisors, Inc. an SEC-registered investment advisor.
Tom heads the development of the firm’s strategy and the allocation of capital, technology and human resources required to ensure its successful implementation. This includes leading a team of professionals who develop and manage industry-leading solutions for our clients.
Prior to joining Pershing, Tom was an executive vice president and senior managing director for PNC Global Investment Servicing. During this time, he was in charge of the financial advisor services division, which encompassed three lines of business: Albridge Solutions, Coates Analytics and PNC Managed Investment Services, Inc. Tom was also head of its strategic planning, corporate development and product management activities and a member of its Operating Committee. He served on PNC Financial’s Management Committee, as well as the firm’s Administrative Pension Committee.
Tom is a past member of the Board of Governors for the Money Management Institute (MMI) and is currently a member of the Outthinker Strategy Network. He is also active in his community and serves on the Board of Directors for Catholic Social Services of Philadelphia and is a member of the Investment Committee for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
