Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Risk Officer
Claire Santaniello is Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Risk Officer and a Managing Director for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company. Claire leads Corporate Services, which includes Bank and Depository Balancing, Compliance, Client Information Control and Surveillance, Credit and Market Risk, General Services and Facilities Management, Operational Risk and Control, People Services and the Quality Management Office. She also has administrative responsibility for Internal Audit and Security.
Claire participates on several committees for Pershing, BNY Mellon, the industry and the community. She is a member of Pershing’s Executive Committee and BNY Mellon’s Operating Committee, Pershing Limited’s Executive Committee, Pershing’s Assets and Liability Committee, and serves as Chair of the Pershing Senior Risk Management Committee and the BNY Mellon Chief Administrative Officer Roundtable. Claire is also a member of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Membership Committee, FINRA National Adjudicatory Council (NAC) and is chair of the FINRA Statutory Disqualification Committee of the NAC. She previously served as co-chair of the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Compliance and Regulatory Policy Committee and as a member of the FINRA Market Regulation Committee.
In addition to her industry work, Claire serves on the Board of Trustees for NJ SEEDS, a non-profit organization that changes the lives of motivated, high-achieving students from low-income families by transforming their educational opportunities.
Claire joined Pershing in 1991 as a member of the first training program within an online trading division, where she assumed compliance responsibilities. She transferred to Pershing’s Compliance and Risk Management Department in 1997, where she was responsible for building and overseeing Pershing’s Rules Engine technology, and Anti-Money Laundering and Office of Foreign Assets Control programs. She was named Chief Compliance Officer in May 2003, and assumed responsibility for Pershing global compliance in 2005.
Claire earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Muhlenberg College. She also completed the Securities Industry Institute® program, sponsored by Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
