Chief Marketing Officer, Investment Services, BNY Mellon
Caroline O’Connell is Chief Marketing Officer for the Investment Services group within BNY Mellon. Caroline collaborates with business leaders across the Investment Services businesses, which includes Asset Servicing, Corporate Trust, Depositary Receipts, Broker-Dealer Services and Pershing, to develop marketing and communications plans that align with business strategies. She is a member of BNY Mellon’s Senior Leadership Team, Investment Services’ Executive Committee and Pershing’s Executive Committee.
Prior to this role, Caroline was Chief Strategy Officer at Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, where she oversaw Pershing’s business planning, innovation, global marketing and corporate communications. She was responsible for creating and building Pershing’s marketing function.
Caroline is a member of the BNY Mellon Global Diversity and Inclusion Council Operating Committee, the co-chair of the Talent Development Sub-Committee and was the first co-chair of Pershing’s Diversity Advisory Board, which was instrumental in the evaluation and selection of a diversity philosophy and process for the organization. She was a member of the BNY Mellon Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) Executive Committee at its inception.
Caroline is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Curriculum Committee for, and a graduate of, the Securities Industry Institute® (SII), sponsored by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Caroline is also on the Board of Directors of the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and is a member of the Advisor Engagement Sub-Committee. She is a member of the Financial Communications Society (FCS) Marketing Leadership Roundtable and has been a judge for the Portfolio Awards and a speaker for the FCS. Caroline is a member of the Women’s Forum of New York and former chair of the Communications Committee. She is a founding member of the Outthinker Chief Strategy Officer Roundtable, a participant at the Aspen Institute Roundtable and attended Harvard Business School’s Women’s Leadership Forum. In 2016, Caroline was named “Best in Investment Services Marketing” by Wealth and Finance International magazine.
Caroline has her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.
