Michael Lewis is the Chief Information Officer for Pershing Engineering. Michael oversees Pershing’s technology and the deployment of digital, experience-centric solutions for Pershing’s clients. As a member of Pershing’s Executive Committee, he is closely involved in setting strategic direction, driving innovation and actively collaborating across the enterprise.

 

Michael has spent decades innovating technology at financial institutions across the globe. He recently served as Bakkt’s Executive Vice President of Technology and Operations and was a member of Bakkt’s Trust Board. He was instrumental in taking the company public and delivering Bakkt’s first mobile trading and payments platform for digital assets.

 

Prior to Bakkt, Michael was the Chief Technology Officer for Consumer Banking at Citigroup. At Citi, Michael led efforts to standardize account opening across banks and partnered with Google to co-create Google Plex.

 

Before his time at Citigroup, Michael was AIG’s Chief Digital Officer and the CIO for Personal Insurance and the Private Client Group. He also founded and served as General Manager for AIG’s Incubation Business Unit whose goal was to focus on 10x transformative products.

 

Prior to AIG, Michael was the Digital Chief Technology Officer at JP Morgan Chase and is credited as the technical creator behind Chase.com, the company’s innovative online banking platform. He holds three patents for his groundbreaking work on the highly scalable banking platform and real-time AI driven dynamic User Interfaces. Michael also worked closely with Apple to enable Chase as one of the first banks to launch Apple Pay.

 

Michael received the distinction of being #6 on the list of top 25 Fintech COOs in 2022 by Financial Technology Report.

 

Michael received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the City University of New York and has been building and has been fascinated with computers since he was a child.
