A disaster can be defined as an incident that causes loss of access to the buildings or the services within them. It is the responsibility of the Incident Management Team (IMT) to declare a disaster and invoke Business Continuity Plans.

If the Business Continuity Plan is to be invoked, you will be notified by your Team Captain, the IMT, or one of its representatives.If you are notified of an invocation, don't forget to...
   
  • Travel with your Pershing Identification Card.
  • Take your mobile phone and/or paging device.
  • Stay in contact with the Team Captain of your group for status and direction

  • In the event of an incident, Pershing associates MUST NOT go to the recovery site until they have been directed to do so by a member of the Incident Management Team (IMT) or their Team Captain.
  • Do not speak to the media.
  • Do not speak to anyone about the incident or invocation other than those persons you know to be Pershing associates.

INCIDENT RESPONSE (OUTSIDE BUSINESS HOURS)

  • If you receive notification of the incident from the IMT, department manager, or Dialogic automated notification system, follow the instructions provided.
  • If you learn of the incident via alternative means (news reports, office cordoned, etc.)
    • Call the Business Interruption Hotline.
    • Go home and remain available.
  • Consider the impact of the incident on departmental business and be prepared to make the information available to your manager, supervisor, or the IMT.
  • A decision regarding the business continuity invocation will be made by the IMT.
    • If the business continuity plan is invoked, go to the section "PLAN INVOCATION" below.
    • If the business continuity plan is not invoked, await further instruction.

MANAGER/TEAM CAPTAIN
The Incident Management Team (IMT) is made up of senior management and executives who have the responsibility for declaring an event. The Team Captains and departmental managers will coordinate and manage the recovery process.

  • If instructed, or if appropriate, place the departmental recovery team on standby. Consider having additional associates assist with notification.
  • Notify the appropriate associates of relocation if applicable. Ensure they have directions to the recovery site and they travel with their Pershing identification card.

AT THE RECOVERY SITE
Once at the recovery site, follow these guidelines:

  • If appropriate, establish contact with interdependent clients, counter parties, Pershing departments, and remote associates. Notify them of the incident and recovery site information. USE ONLY AUTHORIZED STATEMENTS FROM CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS.
  • Business unit managers should determine what items (for instance, hard copy files, tickets, works in progress) must be salvaged from production facilities. Consolidate all requests and present them to the IMT.
  • Conduct regular status meetings to identify recovery progress and outstanding issues—particularly legal/regulatory. Keep the IMT informed of meeting results.
  • Begin restoration of critical business recovery processes.
  • Ensure that all recovery expenses are tracked and receipts are saved.

BUSINESS RECOVERY STRATEGY
The recovery strategy is summarized below:

  • The IMT will coordinate the entire Firm's response to any event.
  • The Team Captain and required team members will report to the alternate site(s) to assist with business recovery.
  • The Business Unit Recovery Team will have desks available at a recovery site within 4 hours and beyond as identified in the Firm's business continuity plans.
  • Each recovery team member will identify tasks/transactions in progress as well as those that may have been lost and coordinate restoration with the team leader.
  • Each recovery team member will assess any legal and/or regulatory risks and recommend associated mitigation actions to the Team Captain.
  • Based upon the nature of identified works in progress and the potential risks, the recovery Team Captain will determine whether shift work is possible.
  • Team members not reporting to the recovery site will coordinate remote access work with the Team Captain

Route from New York City to Florham Park (1 hour with no traffic)
1. Holland Tunnel to New Jersey Turnpike.
2. Exit Turnpike at Exit 14, to I-78 West. (easiest to stay in local lanes).
3. Follow I-78 to Route 24 West.
4. Exit Route 24 at Exit 7C, for the JFK Parkway.
5. Follow JFK Parkway to South Orange Avenue (Route 510). Turn left at light. (Caution: Avoid right-hand lane on JFK until past Short Hills mall area or you will find yourself in a series of right-turn-only lanes.)
6. Beyond Livingston Mall, South Orange Avenue becomes Columbia Turnpike. Turn right from Columbia Turnpike onto Vreeland Road and proceed to 19 Vreeland Road (on the right) or 6 Vreeland Road (on the left). NOTE: From the Livingston Mall to Vreeland Road is about 1 mile.

1. Vreeland Road to Columbia Turnpike then left turn onto Columbia Turnpike.
2. Columbia Turnpike to JFK Parkway and right onto JFK Parkway.
3. JFK Parkway to Route 24 East.
4. Route 24 East to I-78 East.
5. I-78 East to NJ Turnpike exit 14C (toward Holland Tunnel).
6. Once through the 14C toll take Grand St. Jersey City Exit. (Do not continue to Holland Tunnel).
7. Proceed straight through first traffic light to the "T" in the road, and make a right turn onto Christopher Columbus Drive. Pershing Plaza, at 95 Christopher Columbus Drive, is the first large building on the right between Grove Street and Marin Boulevard.

1. Head south on Vreeland Rd toward Columbia Turnpike/CR-510 0.5 mi 2 minutes.
2. Turn right at Columbia Turnpike/CR-510 2.7 mi 6 minutes
3. Merge onto RT-24 W via the ramp to I-287 1.7 mi 2 minutes.
4. Take the exit onto I-287 N toward I-80/Mahwah 3.8 mi minutes.
5. Take exit 41A to merge onto I-80 E toward New York City 13.5 mi 14 minutes.
6. Take exit 56A to merge onto Squirrelwood Rd toward W Paterson 0.5 mi 2 minutes.
7. Continue on Squirrelwood Rd turns into Rifle Camp Rd.
8. Building is located at 385 Rifle Camp Road, West Paterson, NJ.
9. Turn Left into 2-way traffic entrance (large Bank of New York sign in entrance is painted over) but is across the street from the Sunoco gas station.
10. Follow long drive to the Entrance Gate and present ID.
11. Recovery seats are on the 5th floor.
