James Seuffert is Chief Executive Officer for Pershing Managed Account Solutions, and a Managing Director and a member of the Executive Committee for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, where he is responsible for overseeing the delivery of turnkey and private-label managed account solutions to Pershing’s introducing broker-dealer and registered investment advisor customers. Previously, Mr. Seuffert was Chief Operating Officer of the Lockwood family of companies, and was directly responsible for business development, operations, technology, relationship and account management functions.
Mr. Seuffert is recognized as one of the primary contributors to the development of the fee-based consulting industry. Mr. Seuffert and his longtime colleague, Leonard A. Reinhart, founded the Lockwood family of companies in 1995. Lockwood was the first investment advisory firm specifically designed to provide a turnkey investment consulting platform to independent broker-dealers, consultants, investment advisors and financial planners. In 2003, Lockwood joined forces with Pershing to form one of the industry’s largest providers of managed account solutions to financial organizations and registered investment advisors.
Mr. Seuffert started his career in 1980 at E. F. Hutton’s Consulting Services Division. During his 15-year tenure there, he helped inaugurate many innovative programs that made professional investment management consulting accessible to both individual and institutional investors. In 2005, the Money Management Institute honored Mr. Seuffert with a Pioneer Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the managed account industry during his 25-year career. Mr. Seuffert earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Finance from Mount St. Mary’s College.
