George (Tres) Arnett III is a Managing Director and Senior Managing Counsel for Pershing, a BNY Mellon company, where he has legal oversight for international trading and operations, securities lending, domestic trading, Pershing Prime Services, Global Securities Services, Pershing Securities Limited (United Kingdom) and Pershing Managed Account Solutions. Mr. Arnett is Chair of Pershing’s International Risk Committee and is a member of its Credit Committee, as well as Pershing Securities Limited’s Risk Committee. He is also a member of BNY Mellon’s Developing Markets Portfolio Management Committee. From 1993 to 1997, he was a Deputy Attorney General with the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, where he led the investigation into the bankruptcy, fraud, and money laundering allegations of now-convicted penny stockbroker Robert Brennan.
Mr. Arnett serves on a number of industry committees, including the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Prime Brokerage Committee and the State Regulation and Legislation Committee. He also serves on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Inc.’s International Advisory Working Group. He is a Governor of the Bond Club of New York and an Editor of its annual publication, the Bawl Street Journal. Mr. Arnett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science from Yale College and a Juris Doctorate degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the New York Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Associations, and is a licensed responsible officer under the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. Mr. Arnett has been a frequent speaker at conferences sponsored by the U.S. Treasury Department, SIFMA and the Society of Trust & Estate Planners on topics relating to anti-money laundering and international compliance and prime brokerage.
