Charles van der Merwe is the Chief Executive Officer of Pershing Limited, an affiliate of Pershing. Mr. Van der Merwe is also a Managing Director and member of the Executive Committee for Pershing. He joined Pershing from BNY Mellon following the company’s acquisition by BNY Mellon in May 2003.
Previously, as Managing Director of BNY Global Clearing in Europe, Mr. Van der Merwe had overall responsibility for growing the business and developing products and services for both the private wealth and retail brokerage and institutional broker-dealer market segments. Prior to that, Mr. Van der Merwe was responsible for the interest rate derivatives, structured products and fixed income middle offices at J.P. Morgan Securities. He has also held financial management positions at Standard Bank of South Africa and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Van der Merwe is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in general business studies.
